这份薪水到底值多少呢?
当我和我的学生会面谈到选择主修及工作都会提到三个主要的考量:经济稳定，名声及兴趣。当然，我们在选择事业时还是要实际地确定这份工作至少可以在未来支持我们的生活并让我们感到兴趣，所以当家长、老师、学生及辅导老师每天都在谈论著像“医生”、“工程师”、“律师”及“商人”这样的职业时，学生当然会试着想要追求这些”有权”的职业，或是找一份有相同威望、声誉或保障的工作。
但就算作为Apple的电脑工程师、CocaCola的商业分析师、Kaiser Permanente的主治手术医师、或是Walmart的律师又代表着什么呢? 我相信大部分的人都会回答: 成功! 为什么呢? 因为这些工作神奇似地满足了每个学生及家长的三个考量。但主流的成功定义常常忽略了全球关切的人权及社会公平议题。工作不仅是每天完成的事或计画，而更应该是你忠于自己个性，并真心相信你喜欢追求的事。这种成就感不仅是从稳定、名声或对工作的喜好而来，也是从这份工作和你的兴趣、热情或道德感是否符合有关。所以我们该如何确定找到喜爱的工作并和我们的道德规范不相左呢?我们衡量一份薪水就应包含一直被忽略的一项外在条件: 人性冲击。
最近和一个在Walmart作财务分析的朋友聊天，我问他:“你的工作让你开心吗？”他直觉地回答”是的。”我接着问他:“你知道最近Walmart正被质疑倾倒百万吨的有毒物质于南美许多村庄的主要水资源? ”他停顿了一下说“不，我不知道，但这不是我的责任，我只负责数字的部分。 ”这就是大部份高知识份子不幸的思想方式。我知道我的朋友是一个时常表现大方的人，我听到这个回答也不怀疑他的人格或是诽谤他，他对于和他搭不上关系或和生活无关的人不感兴趣不完全是他的错。
当然，这些公司生产的产品及提供的服务是我们都需要的，像我现在就正用Acer手提电脑及iPhone来写这篇文章。但我们对这些产品的依赖不应蒙蔽了我们的判断力及制造自私的行为，我们对于专业的追求应该也要考虑到我们非间接的行动是否影响到了地球另一边的人们。我们都需要记得自我实现不只是由自我责任而来，也是当我们有意识地了解我们身边人的消费者权益及员工权力保护，从我们自己的社区开始到世界每个角落。
我还是相信大部份的人都是拥有好的意图，能带给世界好的回馈。但我们不能只期望我们那在非营利公司上班的好心撒马利亚邻居可以扭转这些公司及机构所带来的伤害，我们自己必须要接受教育，知道我们工作的公司所发生的事，寄望我们互动的或希望以后能进入的这些公司提供一些服务及产品是对世界有益的。但是，在为像我们这样少数的受益人群带来好的影响之前，总是为其他大部分人的健康生活环境并享受同等权益及自由带来很多的副作用。
一个人如何能改变整个公司呢? 你单独一人当然不行，但你能作的是重新衡量、建造或调整你选择的职业或想要去的公司的优先顺序，这些机构、集团或公司都会一直存在，而像你我这样的人，也会一直为他们工作，但是总有方法可以把你的价值系统灌输在你每天的生活里。
要留心!
提醒自己要知道发生的事情。当你还是大学生时你学习着如何分析及评断，并得到技术及练习技巧，留住你得到的知识并用在你的职业里。离开大学后，要一直保持着学习的态度，常常阅读报纸、文章及其他的媒体报导。
分享你的时间!
挪出一部份时间来作一些有意义及增广见闻的事情，把你想学的及现在正在磨练的技巧，加上创新的资讯带出教室并带给外面的世界。有很多非营利的组织、政府机构及公司可以运用你的专业来完成他们的任务，带给他人美好的生活，好好享受你幸运能服务的大集团，也不要忘了回馈你的社区。
说出你的心声!
当你了解环绕着你事业及你想进入工作的个别公司的事情或争议事件后，不要迟疑地发问并分享你的想法。你的好奇本性及分析不同角度层面里发生的事情能力能造成感染力，造成大改变的最好的方式就是从小做起，要好好教育自己及你身旁的人。
记得，有野心不永远是一件坏事，只要不违反你天生的无私及回馈带给你成功的世界就行了。
ACT考试将增加两个测量指标，并采用新的写作评分方法
大型考试的模式持续演变。
新的ACT考试结果将以“STEM分数” （对应考生在数学和科学方面的表现）以及“英语语言文化分数” （对应考生在英语阅读和学作部分的综合表现）呈现。
选考的写作部分也作了改变。目前，
ACT教育与职业发展部门主席乔恩·埃里克森（Jon Erickson）称，新的写作评分方法有利于学生扬长避短。
目前共计有17个州将ACT考试作为州内评估项目的一部分，

3D Design Course Description
This 2 week intensive workshop is designed to allow aspiring engineering students to have hands-on experience and training in 3D modelling. Students will be learning to use industry-standard Solidworks modelling software to create objects from everyday life, and will be able to gain a better understanding of mechanical engineering through use of the software. This is a good way to jump start students into both robotics programs in high school such as VEX, FTC, and FRC, as well as industry design. Students will also receive a 3D printed model of what they’ve chosen to model in the program at the end. The course requires knowledge of geometry.

This 5 week workshop is designed to allow aspiring makers and tech enthusiasts to have hands-on experience and training on 3D printers. Students will be engaging in building, tweaking, and maintaining a 3D printer, and may even take home their own 3D printer to take at the end of the workshop. This is a great opportunity to allow students who really would like to use and get familiar with 3D printing, but do not have the resources, to get the experience they would like. The course requires some knowledge of building and wiring. Some 3D modelling and programming experience is recommended.

数学老师刘老师是一个ABC，在美国出生的中国人。我们专程到他现在教学的Pioneer Family Academy请到了他。他能把一个很难的概念用简单的语言表达出来，是个非常有经验的老师。每天下了课，他会把他的课堂笔记post到他的博客上，方便学生课后复习。
刘老师除了在教会学校教书，他也教很多1对1的学生，几乎南湾的每个高中都有他的学生。他熟知每个高中的数学课程，尤其对Lynbrook的数学课了如指掌。
他上课活泼，生动，风趣。每个学生都喜欢他。
除了教学，他还很擅长和teenagers 青少年沟通。不少和父母沟通有问题的学生经过他一段教学，亲子沟通也好了。还有，他能挖掘您孩子对学数学的兴趣。
ACT 也要改进
Evolving ACT June 6, 2014 By Scott Jaschik
ACT is today unveiling a series of changes — most involving the addition of new scores — to its college admissions test.
The changes to the test itself are relatively minor, such that ACT officials predict that a student taking the exam this year (under the current system) and next year (under the new one) might not notice the difference during the test itself. But the score report will have a series of additions to the 1-36 scores students now receive for each section (English, mathematics, reading and science) and as a composite score of those four. If you have taken Algebra 2/Trigonometry or Math Analysis, you can take this Pre-Calculus Honors class at SpringLight Education. 上过AlgII/Trig 的同学可以上Pre-Calculus。

1. SAT subject test: After this class, you just need to do several practice tests, then you will be ready to take SAT math test subject in fall.
完成并掌握了Pre-Calculus的同学，做几套练习SAT II数学的练习，就可以考SAT II数学，并容易取得好的成绩。春晖教育已经有很多学生得到了800分的成绩。

Exceptional Instructor Accelerating Performance in School
Doumer Liu has a BA in Mathematics from San Jose State University. He has helped numerous students with their math scores and with SAT prep for the last 9 years. He’s been teaching Algebra, Geometry and Advanced Mathematics for Pioneer Family Academy in Campbell, CA. For these classes he maintains web blogs to distribute class notes and assignment schedules. He also utilizes a digital pad computer to teach his lessons as well as create notes when tutoring. Mr. Liu is well liked by his students and is able to address young people with a friendly and approachable teaching style.
He is very organized and he shares his class notes at his blogs everyday for his group classes.
