  AMC  Contest Preparation Classes

NUMBER THEORY

Instructor: Tom Tang, PhD in Math

The American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) consist of a series of increasingly difficult tests for gr 6-12. Students who have passed AMC 10 or AMC 12 are invited to take AIME. An AIME qualifier is more impressive than an 800 on a SAT Math. There were some advanced students began to take AMC once or twice each year since their 7th grade. They got big improvement each year & successfully became an AIME qualifier within 2 to 5 years. Good AMC scores will enhance admission opportunities for students to elite colleges. Its mission is to help students increase interest in math and to develop critical thinking & problem-solving skills in Math.

The AMC 10/12 is for students of gr 7-10/10-12. (25 question, 75min multiple choice exam. )

The AMC 8 is a 25 question, 40 minute multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem solving skills.

AMC 8 test date: Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013

AMC 10/12 test date: Tues. Feb. 4 and/or Wed. , Feb. 19 , 2014

AMC contains four parts: Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory and Counting&Probability. Number Theory and Counting&Probability aren’t taught at school math class.

We will open series AMC classes to build the foundation for AMC competition.

The first AMC competition class is
