2010 CA Coastal Art & Poetry Contest

http://www.coastal.ca.gov/publiced/poster/flyer.pdf

By encouraging youth to reflect on the beauty and spirit of California’s beaches and ocean, we hope to inspire a greater sense of stewardship for these natural places. A population that cares about the coast is more likely to work to conserve and protect it.

California students in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to submit their work to the California Coastal Commission’s annual Coastal Art and Poetry Contest!

Winners will be selected in each of five grade-level categories (K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-6th, 7th-9th, and 10th-12th) in both art and poetry to receive a $100 gift certificate to an art supply store or book store. Each winner’s teacher will receive a $50 gift certificate for educational materials, courtesy of Acorn Naturalists. Winners and honorable mentions will receive tickets to Aquarium of the Pacific, courtesy of the Aquarium.

Entries must be postmarked by January 31, 2011

Winners will be announced in April at www.coastforyou.org.
Art and poetry must have a California coastal or marine theme to be eligible. Please refer to the contest “Guidelines” for complete contest rules. If you would like your original artwork returned, you must submit return postage and mailing label (for reusing your original packaging) or a self-addressed, stamped envelope of adequate size with your entry. Winners and honorable mentions may be retained by the Commission for approximately one year for public exhibit.
