Thanksgiving is a time of joy and appreciation. It’s a time when family and friends gather together and give thanks for all that they have. Most importantly to give thanks to God for surrounding us with outstanding and loving people. It’s also a time to reflect and be grateful for the things we have. Things like food, a bed, a house, and many other resources we need in a daily basis. Personally I am grateful for many important reasons. Although I have quite a few, I’m mostly grateful to God .

Many people think that the last Thursday of November should be saved to say thank you to their beloved ones. Or to eat a big stuffed turkey with a side of mashed potatoes. Maybe it’s a good excuse to purposely sound mushy without feeling embarrassed. I think that everyday should be a thanksgiving day. To wake up and be grateful for the air that we breathe. Try to say thank you to the teacher more often or your principal for that matter. Be thankful for the dinners our moms make or dad if you’re lucky. What I’m trying to say is to be thankful everyday instead of just once a year. Say thank you or at least show your gratitude.

Although I do not believe that there should only  be one day of thanksgiving, my family and I gather together every year. We each bring a dish to share with everyone. My family isn’t scattered around different countries like everyone else’s. We like to make holidays easy by living close to one another. But Before we eat we thank God and everyone else who came and joined us. My family isn’t your ordinary family. Actually not your everyday Mexican family. We sit for hours around the dinner table talking about random things and it usually ends up being a contest to who can tell the scariest story. That’s not the end to our thanksgiving story. My oldest uncle loves to sing so a few years back he decided to buy a karaoke station. Now every holiday he brings it out until the last person leaves. Even if we don’t know how to sing he will drag you over and make you sing the hardest song ever. Our thanksgiving ends with hugs, laughter, and a race to a Black Friday line. Half of us actually like sleeping.

I have so many things to be grateful for, my mom, my health, and I can go on but it’s a long list. All of this I owe it to God. I mean I have the awesomest family and friends. I have so many reasons to smile and be thankful for. I say this from the bottom of heart that God has helped me through thick and thin. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t of been in Mountain View Academy any of my four high school years. He has provided such wonderful people in my life who have also helped me tremendously. He gave me a loving mom who has been both mom and dad. I’m very lucky for the life I have received. I thank God for everything.

In conclusion, thanksgiving for me is everyday. Each day we should be grateful for the things that make us happy. From the biggest to the smallest things. If it’s a person or a thing. Don’t forget to show love and appreciation before it’s too late. Thanksgiving is a time of happiness.
