Java Programming This course is designed to introduce the student to the study and writing of computer programs, with an emphasis on understanding and solving problems. Analytical thinking skills and logic are emphasized. The Java language is taught with an emphasis on programming for the Internet, so structured and object-oriented methods of programming are taught. C++ Programming A comprehensive introduction to the C++ programming language and its application to solve computing problems. USACO Preparation Class The class will cover computer science theory that is relevant to the USACO contest and demonstrate its application by solving computing problems. It will also cover programming techniques specific to the USACO contest. Python Programming Python Programming can let you work more quickly and integrate your systems more effectively. It is easy to learn. Adventures in Programming In this introductory course children will learn about the various terms used in programming languages to create interactive stories, games, music, and art. Let your imagination run wild in this multimedia adventure. Create your own interactive stories, animated adventures, and creative comics. Learn drag and drop programming basics with Scratch (a project of the MIT Media Lab). Computer characters are at your command! As they learn to program in the course, young people become engaged in critical reasoning and systems thinking. In order to build projects, students need to coordinate the timing and interactions between multiple “sprites” (programmable moving objects). The ability to program interactive inputs provides students with direct experience with sensing, feedback, and other fundamental systems concepts.
Digital Art and Design Class This camp is for advanced students who want to learn from a professional artist and graphic designer regarding how to create great digital illustrations, drawings, and paintings, as well as logos, eye catching art, and exciting effects using software such as Adobe Illustrator. We’ll convert photos into vector images, use shape builders, blending tools, and make animated gifs and key frame animations for use in graphic designs and digital drawings. Creative and critical thinking exercises will help inspire originality and build each student’s creative platform. Stop Motion Animation If you were wondering how they create movies such as Wallace and Gromit or those funky Lego shorts on YouTube, your search is over! Although creating stop motion animation is not difficult, it is time-consuming, repetitive and requires patience. As long as you’re keen, this makes for a fantastic hobby and can sometimes even grow into a career. Our stop motion animation class is truly the FUN source of how-to information on this subject. Each day will takes you step by step through each process. It makes a difficult subject easy to learn. 3D Animation A fun and easy to use 3D application that lets anyone make animations. Create characters and sets and bring the whole performance to life with free 3D Modelling software and a powerful character animation system.
Students need bring their own laptop. System requirements You need a decent PC – not quite bargain basement and not quite expensive. You’ll also need a good graphics card for the full 3D experience. This course, which focuses on adding special effects to your photos – things you can apply immediately to your precious photos, whether or not they come straight from the camera.
