To most people in the world, Thanksgiving is something simple, a mere holiday that celebrates the first union between Europeans and Native Americans. The minority of the world though, don’t see it in that way at all, they see it as much more than that simple definition. They see it as a day to celebrate and rejoice about family, and also what truly matters in the world to them.
I understand the reason why people call Thanksgiving Thanksgiving, it’s not just giving your thanks, it’s to think about what’s really important to you and being glad and happy you have that going for you. I at this time of year take the time to think about what my kind and caring parents do for me. My parents aren’t perfect, for they’ve lost my DS, but I love them just the way they are. Even if they mess up, I just can’t dislike them! They’ve lost my things, a saddening thing for me no doubt, but the sacrifices they made for me to come into the world makes that seem a microscopic problem at best! They’ve done so much for me, gave me life, they give me shelter, they give me and take some from their selves to make me a happy son, obviously that’s something to be very thankful about.
Also I am very, very thankful for my friends, they are the ones who pick me up from the dark world of boredom and loneliness. If each of us didn’t have friends then what kind of solace would we find in living? We would be lonely for we would have no one to talk to, we would be bored because we can’t do anything. So obviously that’s something to be happy about. Also I am very thankful for my enriched life for many people in this world aren’t as lucky as I am to live such a privileged life filled with happiness. Other kids however are not as privileged as I am and must fight to live for another every single day.
In the end you can probably tell that I lean very heavily in the direction of the minority of people. I believe that people should go deeper into the meaning of Thanksgiving. That’s my opinion of Thanksgiving.
