My Thanksgiving Someone Special
Thanksgiving is a day every year when family and friends come together for a big feast and to be with one another. It is a day for giving thanks to everyone and to show love and affection towards each other. On Thanksgiving, many people like to celebrate with a full-on dinner for everyone to enjoy. There are many traditional items that are served, including turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and all sorts of pies.
Typically, this whole essay would be about maybe a Thanksgiving dinner, or my opinion on Thanksgiving. But I decided to change things up a bit. Instead, I am going to be talking about a special someone in my life that I am thankful for.
“My friend and I are very similar, but also very different, and that is why we have been together for eight years already. Even though I’ve made new friends, Celine and I will always be best friends until we die, and I’m happy for that.”
This quote was written by my best friend, Connie, and we have been best friends ever since first grade. She wrote a whole page in her writing notebook just for me, and it touched me so much when I read it. In the writing she called me special and that she felt so lucky to have me as her best, best friend. I could not have been more grateful when I read her writing because it meant the world to me.
We have been through so many ups and downs in life together, and we do almost everything with each other. I am thankful for her because regardless how I am, she will never judge me. She will always accept me for who I really am, and she will love me whatever the case. We have such big plans for when we grow up together, like our dreams of living in a beautiful penthouse in New York City across from one another with our husbands and 68 dogs and 72 cats, waking up every single morning at 5:00 AM and yelling across to the other how we would like our breakfast made. Yes, it may sound like a crazy idea, but with Connie, anything and everything is fun, and always special to me. Connie is such a trustworthy and caring person, and an even better friend. She is the type of person who, if you only met her for an hour, she could make your day. Her personality is so upbeat and optimistic that every single day I am with her, she always makes me happy. I wouldn’t change anything about her because to me, she will always be perfect. Even though sometimes we may fight over big issues, or even useless things, she will always be my best friend, and I will always love her.
But to me, being thankful for Connie is not enough. She has made my life so much more interesting and much more worth living. There is not enough thanks in the world to repay what she has done for me. But I guess if every year we are best friends and I thank her for everything she’s done, one day, we will be even. I hope that day never comes because no matter what, I am always thankful to have Connie in my life.
