This is my first fund raising event, and I am thrilled to be here in the same room with Bob, Meimei, Chuck and Peter, who are considered heros by many Chinese Americans in defeating SCA5 in its early form. But as we all know there’s still a long way to go.

Asian Americans, particularly Chinese Americans have long been politically dormant. SCA5 is just like a sword so blatantly plunged into the heart of our society, we got disturbed, we got wakened, we got galvanized! Somebody touched our cheese, and even wanted to take it away. That is not tolerable! We are not going to be quiet any more, we are going to fight! To fight for our children, to fight for fair opportunities, to fight for our better future.

The Chinese American community has always been socially liberal and financially conservative. And that is very close to the Republican Party’s core value. Senator Huff, Chuck and Peter, look at the people in this room, from now on you are going to see a lot of new faces like me joining the cause, and extending helping hands to the campaign. The change is coming. I urge the Republican Party to recognize this change, nurture it, and make the best of it. Because this is the real change, it is not the change someone said in 2008, this is not the change the same someone said in 2012. If we join the cause and work in unity, we are going to change the political landscape of California!
